Mothman – Night Watch
$12.00 – $30.00
Is he an omen? A harbinger of change? Either way, he watches in the night.
Description
It’s been a few years since my last Mothman piece, so here he is for 2026! Kind of went with a new look for him this time, sort of a Spiderman inspo for the pose, and got a little carried away with defining his musculature. He definitely looks more alien, which I think turned out pretty cool.
This is my most ambitious cutout piece to date, with almost everything from the intricate smoke trail, the inside of the light post, the marbled section of his wings, to the negative space on the bridge being painstakingly cut out by hand with a less-than-sharp xacto knife. My husband and I have joked that this piece should be called “Nerve Damage” since the tip of my finger is still numb weeks later!
Originally drawn on bristol board (not conducive for cutouts!) with pen, marker, liquid acrylic paint and colored pencil, layered over marble paper and mounted on blue pearlescent paper.
