It is already August, can you believe it? Suddenly we are hurtling towards the end of Summer, and the next event is coming up fast!
Planet Anime is in just a few weeks at Bartle Hall, Aug 21-23! You can find me at booth 1037-1039, double tables right about the halfway point in the hall along the far edge of the Artist Alley. Look for my signature golden curtains! Looks like I’ll be right across the way from Fat Bee boba tea and beverages with other concessions nearby. This will be my first appearance at Planet Anime, and I’m hoping my catalogue of different works will go over well at a primarily anime-centered convention. It’ll be my first time participating in a stamp rally as well, this one Expedition 33 themed, which I’m totally stoked about! A group of 5 of us pulled together some E33 themed items to contribute to the prize packs! It’s a fun way to support a little group of small artists, and earn exclusive items you can’t get otherwise!
In an effort to be fully transparent about these past few months, I had a bit of a medical issue at the end of June that was totally debilitating, causing me to cancel my appearance at World Oddities Expo Springfield and forced a less productive July while I recovered. I have tried to pull together some new pieces between my last show and this one, but I am definitely a slow artist, so between taking a break after Planet Comicon, working on a client commission, and dealing with my health issue, I don’t have as much newness as I had hoped, but I am very happy with what I have been able to make, and I’m excited to share that with you!
The weekend after Planet Anime, I will be traveling to Nebraska for the World Oddities Expo up in Omaha 8/29-8/30! Since I skipped OCon Expo this year, this will be the only time you can catch me outside of Kansas City for the rest of the year. After that, my only other planned events so far are the Boozy Book Fest on 10/3, and Meeple-A-Thon 11/6-11/8, both at Bartle Hall. (Bartle Hall is popular this year!) I will post details on those in the Fall!
As always, hope to see ya out there! Cheers! – Jo
